AI has been in the news a lot. There are fears about job security, questions about the neurological impact of heavy AI use, and excitement about the doors it unlocks. We share those feelings (anyone else considered becoming a plumber?)!
We don't want the topic of this newsletter to blend into the noise, but it's genuinely on our minds these days.
It's important for our community to know that we draw a thick line in the sand when it comes to AI. We believe that Parable is a calling on our life that we use to bless our community with our God-given skills of creativity, strategic thinking, and hard work. It's just a fact that if we surrender some of our work to AI, we aren't leaning on God's guidance, wisdom, or vision when we create. Throwing a logo prompt into ChatGPT is taking the beautiful, and very human, process out of our craft. As creatives, our clients hire us because they like what we create, not an AI generated product (which btw we can all usually tell is AI generated).
We are well aware that we will lose clients because of the growth of AI. We know that it is cheaper, faster, and in many ways easier. We know that we take time to create and we even make mistakes. However, we truly believe that human-made is going to be the new luxury. People are going to seek out the intentional craft of a person, with a soul, and a deep connection to their work.
So yes, we use ChatGPT for questions about our taxes or how to tackle daylight savings time with our babies, but we hold strong to our commitment to never allow AI into our creative process.
